My progress report

In my prelim earlier this year I got a grade 3 for my writing and a grade 2 for my reading. I'd never struggled in english before so had been expecting more than this. I was quickly running out of time as the final exam drew nearer and nearer. My grades still weren't improving and I was losing faith in myself, so my parents decided to arrange tutoring for me. Once a week, for just a couple of months, a friend and I went to tutuoring with my previous english teacher Mrs McIntosh. She decided that since an hour session every week would probably make very little difference to our grades, we should make a blog and post just a paragraph of a story every night if possible. The plan was that we would build up our story night upon night with Mrs McIntosh giving us guidance and pointers on where we were going wrong and how to improve. My writing began to improve and I started to gain confidence again.

In my standard grade english exam this year I achieved not only an overall 1, but straight 1s in every element of english and it's all thanks to Mrs McIntosh and her fantastic blog idea.

Well done! I think you can take a bit of credit yourself, you know - I always knew you had that Grade 1 in you.

I see you've got the message about dealing with comment spam - and enabled the word verification - thus proving to all the doubters in education that students are well able to manage their blolg affairs. Hope you keep posting ....

Well done! The descriptive and detailed style of your writing in your post, tells me that you've got it!
And now you can use it and never lose it! Well done Mrs M.too! What a difference! I have had a similar change with my wee ones. The blog made them want to write and write and write! Oh and the Spellcheck is currently their best friend! As we say in Argyll...."blog on!" The C in the ICT is the crunch. Helps on every level.

Superb! Well done and hope that you have done exceptionally well in all your exams - which I'm sure you have.

Yip - she's not just a pink hair-do! Mrs M got me from a 4 to a 1. Now for higher... Keep the progress up.

You may notice if you follow the link to the blog of your last poster (who obviously thinks we're related!) what happens when you don't enable word verification. His comments section is full of advertising spam, which he needs to deal with. A bad advert for blogging, in fact!

Leaping to Jim's defence...

Jim Wenzloff is one of the good guys... honest. It looks like he doesn't use his Blogger accounts any more - there are only two posts in the one with the four spam comments. I guess he just keeps the Blogger account so he can send comments to people on Blogger. If you go to the one he gave you, http://www.visitmyclass.com/blogs/wenzloff you will see a very interesting blog where the comments are moderated. :-)

Thanks, David - and apologies to Jim if I've misused him in order to make a point. See teachers? Just canny keep their mouths shut ....
